Baden Vertongen - Mema Poari/Board Member
Mr Baden Vertongen (Ngāti Raukawa) has a Master of Science (Zoology / Ecology - Massey University) and a law degree (Otago University). Mr Vertongen was admitted to practice as a Barrister and Solicitor of the High Court of New Zealand in 2004. Mr Vertongen is a current board member for the Patents Māori Advisory Committee, Jane Goodall Institute NZ, and Generosity New Zealand / Funding Information Service. Mr Vertongen is married to a medical practitioner who is an emergency medicine specialist based at Wellington Hospital. Mr Vertongen and his whānau reside in Poneke. Mr Vertongen has worked as an in-house lawyer for Te Ohu Kai Moana, Senior Associate at Kensington Swan and as a Principle at Chen Palmer. Currently, Mr Vertongen is in private practice where he advises iwi bodies in relation to Treaty of Waitangi Settlement negotiations, post settlement iwi organisations, and undertakes board work.
