Te Ohu Rata o Aotearoa – Māori Medical Practitioners Association (Te ORA) is a professional body representing Māori medical students and doctors working as clinicians, researchers and teachers.  With approximately 340 active members, Te ORA represents the majority of the Māori medical workforce.  Te ORA’s vision is to provide Māori medical leadership to the health sector to effect Māori health development and improve health outcomes form Māori. General Information

Te ORA’s Hui-a-Tau and Scientific Conference is held annually and brings together the top echelon of Māori Medical Practitioners, researchers and Māori medical students and affords the opportunity to share and present very high calibre scientific abstracts.  Past Hui-a-Tau have been held recently in Papakura, Palmerston North and Whanganui.  This year we are hosting Hui-a-Tau in Porirua City, Wellington.

Tauira Programme

As part of this year’s Tauira Programme starts 9:00am Thursday 24 January 2019 with Pōhiri. Pohiri is followed by a Medical Colleges Careers expo and will include Auckland and Otago Universities.  Tauira will have an opportunity to see what career pathway looks like for a Maori Medical Practitioner. 

There will be opportunities for Tauira to engage with Maori Medical Students, the two Universities who run the medical education programmes and the Medical Colleges (I.e Surgeons, Psychiatrists, Physicians etc).
