Te ORA is a unique organisation representing Māori medical students and doctors working as clinicians, researchers and teachers.

Te ORA represents the majority of the Māori medical workforce. Te ORA’s vision is to provide Māori medical leadership to the health sector to effect Māori health development.

The Maarire Goodall Award is a prestigious annual award
supporting and celebrating the contributions of Māori health professionals.

PARATENE NGATA

NGĀKAU ORA AWARD

This award is given in Dr Pat Ngata’s memory to one who has shown outstanding concern for the wellbeing of individual members.

TONY RUAKERE

IWI HEALTH AWARD

This award honours the contributions of Tony Ruakere as a role model for emerging Māori doctors and is given to those who demonstrate exceptional
commitment to their Iwi community.

NGA RANGATIRA MATAIHAPO

TE ŌRANGA AWARD

This award is a tribute to rangatira for laying down the pathway of success and offer our thanks to our current Māori doctors for their continued efforts and support.

The award presentation

The above awards are conferred during our annual Hui ā-Tau and Scientific Conference. This hui allows us to come together and foster meaningful connections among attendees and provides a platform for us to celebrate our collective achievements and milestones. It is a time for reflection on the progress we have made while also looking forward to future endeavours.
