Member support
Te ORA aims to make sure whanaungatanga and manaakitanga are values our members feel. Through tuakana-teina relationships, Te ORA can connect members with support when they need it, for whatever reason.
If you would like to be connected, get in touch with the Te ORA Office through the contact form or at teora@teora.maori.nz. Your request will be handled with care and discretion.

Ngākau Ora Kai Tahi Fund
The Kai Tahi Fund helps members get together for kai, kōrero and connection. A BBQ at someone’s whare or a group dinner after work, the fund helps make it happen.
Funding is limited and given first come, first served, with up to two funded gatherings per region. If we receive several applications from the same region, we may connect organisers so you can host together. Questions? Use the contact form.
How the fund works
Check the criteria, then apply using the short application form. Te ORA will let you know by email whether your application is approved.
01Who can applyCurrent Te ORA members
- Open to all current Te ORA members
- Apply on your own or jointly with one other organiser
- One application per event
- At least four people attending
- Whānau and tamariki are welcome
02What can be fundedReasonable costs that support whanaungatanga and manaakitanga
03What cannot be funded
- Alcohol
- Gifts
- Cash payments to individuals
- Honoraria
- Travel
- Salaries
- Prizes
- Activities that conflict with Te ORA’s values or charitable purpose
04From application to reimbursement
- Apply using the application form
- Te ORA reviews your application and lets you know by email
- Once approved, host your gathering. The organiser covers costs up front
- Within seven days, email receipts for all expenses, a short reflection (what you did, when, who came) and at least one photo Te ORA can share
- Te ORA reimburses approved costs into the organiser’s nominated bank account
