Announcing Te ORA Hui a-Tau & Scientific Conference in partnership with RNZCGP’s Health Aotearoa 2020. Announcing Health Aotearoa 2020!
You will recall that the WONCA Asia Pacific conference scheduled for April was postponed due to COVID-19.
We are very pleased to announce today that the conference is going ahead at Auckland’s Aotea Centre from 5 – 7 November 2020 under a new name: Health Aotearoa 2020.
This change reflects the domestic nature of the conference and acknowledges the broad scope of the host organisation’s members. Health Aotearoa 2020 will be brought to you by the College, the New Zealand Rural General Practice Network and Te Ohu Rata o Aotearoa – Māori Medical Practitioners Association.
Health Aotearoa 2020 will be one of the very few health sector conferences to be held in person this year, so we are very excited to be planning this event on your behalf. We are working hard to develop the programme and will be releasing information on this as soon as possible, however we are delighted to have received early and enthusiastic confirmation of keynote presentations from:
· Elizabeth Iro (World Health Organisation’s Chief Nursing Officer)
· Prof Trish Greenhalgh (Primary Care Health Sciences, University of Oxford)
· Dr James Renwick (Weather and climate researcher).
The theme of the new conference will overlap significantly with what was previously planned, but with an increased focus on the future of our health system. As the conference takes place after our general election, amidst our COVID-19 response, and against a backdrop of the Health and Disability System Review there will be much to share and learn.
We will have a lot of information to share with you over the coming weeks, so keep an eye on the Health Aotearoa 2020 website!
