E te whānau o Te ORA,

We are honoured to be invited by Te Ātiawa to Ōwae Marae for Te Rā o Tā Māui Pōmare. This is a time to reflect on the legacy of Aotearoa’s first Māori doctor, a visionary leader whose work reshaped the health and well-being of our people.

Tā Māui Pōmare was relentless in his pursuit of better health for Māori, addressing issues from infectious diseases to housing and sanitation, always advocating for systemic change. His legacy continues to inspire us as Māori health professionals today.

This gathering is not just a remembrance but a reaffirmation of our shared commitment to Māori health and equity. As guests of Te Ātiawa, we have the opportunity to stand together, honour our whakapapa in medicine, and look ahead to the future of Māori health.

Te ORA will be attending this special occasion, and we welcome our members to join us. Te ORA is aiming to assist with travel, accommodation, and catering for Tā Māui Pōmare Day. While we are committed to supporting as many attendees as possible, funding is limited. Priority may be given to tauira and senior members.

Please complete the form to express your interest — this will help us plan and allocate support fairly.

Nau mai, haere mai – let us come together to celebrate, remember, and be inspired.
