We are reaching out to connect with our Māori junior doctors.

We want to better understand your experiences within the medical workforce. To do this, Te ORA are helping set up a series of kaupapa to hear from you! This kaupapa is being driven by Māori junior docs, for Māori junior docs.

We are seeking your (Māori junior docs) feedback on what’s working, what’s not, and where Te ORA might be able to āwhi and support you on your haerenga. We know it can be a hard world out there!

To help gather whakaaro, we will be holding a series of 8 Zuis – one each week on either a Wednesday or Thursday evening, starting mid-May. These zui are just the starting point. They will be an opportunity to kōrero openly, share experiences, and help shape the future direction of support for Māori doctors in training. This will be a space solely for our RMOs to wānanga. Arohamai students and fellows/SMOs!

Each week will be targeting specific rohe but they will remain open for anyone to attend. If you can’t make a specific date then please feel free to jump in on a week that suits.

This link is live now for our junior docs to respond to!

This kaupapa is being facilitated by a small working group of junior docs from around the motu who, like many of you, want to shape our work environment into a better place for us all.

If you would like more information about the roopu whakahaere, or may want to be involved, then please contact anaru.williams@lakesdhb.govt.nz

If you know any junior docs who may not be in this email chain, then please pass the word along!
