E poho kererū ana a Te ORA ki te whakanui i a Ahorangi Beverley Lawton (Te Aitanga a Hauiti, Ngāti Porou), Kiwibank New Zealander of the Year 2025!
Bev has been a long standing member of our Te ORA whānau and her passion and fierceness in advocating for the health of wāhine Māori and their whānau is second to none. Her research spans every aspect of a lifetime, from cervical screening, to antenatal and neonatal care, right through to menopause. She highlights the barriers and inequities that impact whānau Māori, and drives for policy changes to provide safe and equitable care. More importantly her mahi ensures that whānau voices are prioritised and that whānau are part of developing solutions.
For those of us within Te ORA, she remains a steadfast support and wealth of knowledge to help grow and nurture the next generation of health practitioners advancing Hauora Māori. She is transformational and inspires us all to be change agents.
We are so proud of you Bev, ko koe he tuawahine e hoa, nā reira he mihi aroha tēnei ki a koe.
Nā tō whānau ō Te ORA
