Are you keen to support the next generations of doctors to work effectively with Maori patients, whanau and communities? Are you interested in education that makes a difference to Maori health? Do you have clinical experience? Te Whare Wananga o Otago ki Poneke (University of Otago Wellington) is seeking a Clinical Lecturer/Professional Practice Fellow to convene and further develop the Hauora Maori undergraduate medical curriculum for year four and five medical students.

Hauora Maori is a vertical module that spans years four and five of the medical curriculum in the Otago Medical School. It includes whole class learning (around 100 students in each year), and some learning integrated into block modules (around 18 students per block). The module needs to expand its integration into other modules. This requires a person who can work with other convenors across the Medical School (Medicine, Surgery, Primary care, Psychological Medicine, Obstetrics and Gynaecology, Public Health) to develop Hauora Maori learning opportunities in clinical and community based contexts.

Your Skills and Experience

  • Clinical experience/expertise is strongly preferred.
  • A commitment to education and innovation in teaching/learning is essential.
  • Matauranga Maori and reo Maori is essential.
  • Education knowledge is preferred but formal training can be provided.

You will need to be willing to undertake training and continuous quality improvement of educational practice. We are looking for a person with a passion for Maori health, who is able to work collaboratively and to support our students to develop mana-enhancing practice.
