Formerly a veterinarian, I retrained in human medicine and qualified from the University of Auckland in 2007. I started work as a House Officer at Waikato hospital and commenced internal medicine training there before moving to Palmerston North and then Wellington to complete my Fellowships in Nephrology (2015) and General Medicine (2016).

During my time as a rata teina, I served as President of the New Zealand Resident Doctors Association (NZRDA) for 5 years, and also served on the Board of Te ORA between 2007-8. These roles reflect the strong commitment I have to improving health outcomes for Māori and to supporting doctors during the long and challenging years spent in specialist training.

I commenced work as a renal specialist and general physician in 2015 at MidCentral DHB and I love living in Palmerston North with my wife Megan and our two young tamariki.
