About the award
Te Tohu Whaioranga Hautūtanga is the Te ORA and Te Pātaka Whaioranga Pharmac student award for Excellence in Leadership. It recognises community leadership, where a Tauira Rata (Māori medical student) has made the most outstanding contribution and shown community leadership during the year.
The award also acknowledges the contributions Tauira Rata make to their communities, and celebrates their achievements. Students are nominated for this award.
Te ORA and Te Pātaka Whaioranga Pharmac launched two annual student awards in 2016: Rangahau for Excellence in Research, and Hautūtanga for Excellence in Leadership. Recipients can receive up to $5,000, paid as an educational grant.
